Name: Marche
Cuisine: Swiss Italian (basically the best of the west...)
Rating: 4/5
Price: Bule prices...Average meal is $10-$15 or Rp 120.000 to Rp160.000
Chance of getting Bali Belly?: Very Unlikely
Clean & Hygenic: Very
Kid Friendly? Very (but the resto is large so kids don't disturb other patrons)
Is there Pork? No, its Halal
Is there Alcohol? Yep, lots of choices...so its only 99% Halal
It's a pretty unique concept...you walk around the restaurant and check out the different food options and when you make your choice, they freshly prepare your meal and stamp your ticket.
It takes a while to decide what to eat, because it all looks fantastic and fresh. But the choice isn't overwhelming either, it is a good a balance.
The decor is Swiss farm yard style I suppose, its a bit of fun and really cosy and relaxing. It's not one of the 'to be seen' at resto's which dominate these malls...it's casual, fun, and easy...
I have been 5 times, and the food is always good, service is fairly quick, and the staff always pleasant. More importantly, it is always clean and the food is always fresh, including freshly prepared. (Don't be fooled by fancy resto's in these fancy malls. You can get Bali Belly there just as easy as dining on street food)
My recent experience at Marche...
I enjoyed a Honey Roasted BBQ Chook Leg, with lovely mushroom gravy. I opted out of the side of vege's or mash and instead went with my favourite offering at Mache...the self serve salad bar!! This time, apart from all the usual fresh salad options, they had a really unique curried potato salad (no mayo) as well as cold roasted vegetables, and roasted tomato topped with mozzarella and fresh herbs. They have great sides like pumpkin seeds, cranberries, crunchy garlicky croutons which I ate like potato chips, and a good selection of dressing from olive oil and vinegars to your heavier creamier types.
My friend had a Salmon Rosti with a slab of sour cream and chives, which was crunchy and tasty. The salmon wasn't too fatty and balanced well. You really need to be pair the rosti with a fresh salad. But isn't that the case with most Rosti's?
Overall our food was a great foody fix and when you get sick of the Asian food, this is the place to come. Plus locals who want to taste more authentic western food....do try Marche..
MAKAN -The Food
Ok, so you basically have:
Pizza (wood oven)
Pasta
Crepes (savoury and sweet)
BBQ meat (Chook and Beef - sausages, wings, ribs, steaks, etc)
Loads of Salad choice
Rosti
A bakery with fresh breads, cakes and slices etc.
MINUM - The Drinks
Every thing is fresh... from juices to fruity lemonades.
They have a pretty decent selection of alcohol but nothing local. It is all import.
The coffee is Movenpick brand, and I would give it a miss. Considering your in Grand Indonesia or Plaza Senayan, there are better options in the mall..
